બાપુ ! ત્યારે તમે યાદ આવ્યા !

ગાંધીજીએ કહેલું કે દલિતો અને દરિદ્રનારાયણોનું સુખ એ જ મારું સત્ય છે અને એ જ મારો ઈશ્વર છે. એને માટે હું મારો જીવ આપી દઈશ અને દલિતો અને દરિદ્રનારાયણોના સુખની વ્યવસ્થા માટે હું જન્મોજન્મ મથતો રહીશ.

સ્વરાજ આવ્યું ત્યારે સરદારે કહેલું કે મારી એક જ ઇચ્છા છે કે હવે ભારતનો એક પણ માણસ ભૂખે નહીં સૂએ.

આઝાદીના  ૬૫ વરસ પછી પણ ગાંધીજી કે સરદારના એક પણ સપનાં પૂરાં થયાં નથી. અને ગાંધી અટકનો ગેરલાભ લઈને છેલ્લાં ૪૦ વરસથી વખતોવખત એક જ ગાંધી કુટુંબના કોઈ પણ એક જ સભ્યે આખા દેશનો વહીવટ પોતાને મનફાવે તે રીતે ચલાવીને દેશના દલિતો અને દરિદ્રનારાયણોની અવદશા કરી છે. લેખકે પ્રતીકરૂપે માત્ર સૂરત શહેરના જ દલિતો અને દરિદ્રનારાયણોની દયાજનક હાલત અને વેદનાની વાત લખી છે. હકીકતે એ જ વાત આખા દેશના દલિતો અને દરિદ્રનારાયણોની છે.

લોકોના શ્રમના કરવેરારૂપે ઉઘરાવેલા અબજો રૂપિયા પોતાના પ્રચાર પાછળ ખર્ચીને રાહુલ ગાંધીને વડાપ્રધાન બનાવવાની ૨૦૦૮થી ચાલી આવેલી અત્યંત ગંદી ઝૂંબેશને ચુપચાપ જોઈ રહેલા દેશના મહાનુભાવોને જોઈને લેખક અત્યંત વેદના અનુભવે છે. એટલે લેખકે ગાંધીજીને આર્જવભરી વિનંતી કરી છે કે અમે તો સાવ નિર્બળ અને નપુંસક થઈને બેઠા છીએ. હવે તમે જ ફરી પ્રગટીને અમારામાં પ્રાણ પૂરો.

पूरा जगत आज तीव्र गति से विनाश के रास्ते पर दौड रहा है. सब जानते हैं कि अब उसके लिए ज्यादा समय नहीं बचा हैं. आज जागेंगे नहीं तो कभी भी जागने का मौका नहीं मिलेगा. दो हजार साल में गांधी नामक ऐसा एक ही मानव हमें मिला था जो हमें सही रास्ता दिखाये और उस पर चलने की ताकत दे. किन्तु हम उसे सँभाल नहीं पाये. हम भारत के लोग भी समझ नहीं पाये कि हमारे साथ, हमारा जैसा बन कर रहने वाला वह महामानव हमारे सुखदु:ख की चिंता करता था. सिर्फ हमारी ही नहीं, पूरे विश्व की चिंता करता था और पूरे विश्व को सुखी करने का उसका स्वप्न था. वह स्वप्न पूर्ण करने की शक्ति और आयोजन भी वह धीरे धीरे संजोता जाता था परन्तु हमें उसे उसका पूरा आयुष्य भोगने नहीं दिया अत: आज समस्त विश्व युध्ध्जन्य भीषण ज्वरविभीषिका में सुलझा रहा है.

अब हमें साथ मिल कर उस महामानव को विस्तार से पहचानने का प्रयास करना पड़ेगा. वह आज होता तो क्या करता, कैसे करता उसका विचार करके उसके रास्ते पर चलने के सिवा हमारे पास कोई रास्ता नहीं है.

Mr. Obama, american friends, leaders of all the 192 U.N. member countries like England, France, Germany, Italy, Australia, Russia, China, India, Africa, Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan etc. etc. ! chiefs of 204 small and big countries, all the presidents, chancellors, authorities, parliamentarians, senators and educated and sensible people of the whole world!
Today, whole world rushes in the direction of destruction. All know that time is very short now. If we are not alert now, then there will not be any opportunity for survival. During last 2,000 years we could get only one man like Gandhi, who can give us courage to change and to go in the right path.
Only one man was born, but we could not save him. We all - specially we, the Indians could not understand that a great man was with us who worried about our unhappiness and despair and lived with us as one of us. He had a dream to make us happy and also the whole world community. He started gaining strength to fulfil that dream, but we - only we did not allow him to enjoy his full span of life. So today, the whole world is feeling heat of the dangerous war fever.
Now, coming together, we will have to try to know him in detail. We have no other alternative but to go on his directed path with the thought of what and how he could have done, if he were alive today.
